Almond Joy Smoothie

Almonds, Coconuts, and Chocolate.

Almond Joy Smoothie
Chocolate, coconut, and almonds in a smoothie? You bet! Instead of caving in and buying a delicious candy bar, why not treat yourself with something similar of the healthy variety? Consider it a guilt-free dessert, if you will, but it’s pretty awesome any time of day. So what makes this healthier than it’s candy bar cousin? Well for starters it’s much, much lower in sugar, much higher in protein and fiber, and all the calories come from real food! Not to mention it satisfies your hunger without spiking your blood sugar, all thanks to the almighty banana. Give your taste-buds the treat they’ve been craving all day without feeling guilty about it.

Ingredients:
8oz unsweetened almond milk
1/2 to 1 banana, medium sized (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes, or fresh young coconut flesh
1 tbsp unprocessed dark cocoa powder
(Optional) 1 -2 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder (makes the perfect post-workout recovery smoothie)

Directions:
Place all  items into NutriBullet  or blender and process until smooth using Mixing Blade. (vegan/vegetarian/paleo/gluten-free friendly!) Makes approx 16oz serving size, approx 200-300 calories. Enjoy!
