So you’ve heard about just how awesome a Super Green Smoothie is and you’re curious to give it a shot. Now whether you heard about it via a friend, a nutritionist, or quite possibly the almighty Doctor Oz, you may still be a bit leery of drinking something green. I’ll be honest, I used to think the same way; keyword: used to.
You might be thinking, “it’s going to taste like grass” or “it looks like slime, I don’t drink slime” but in reality it’s going to taste like pineapples, and it’s going to look like liquid awesomeness.
This is a beginner’s recipe for a green smoothie, namely because it’s aimed at easing you into eating more leafy greens (think spinach, kale, chards) as well as increasing your plant-based fiber, minerals, and vitamins. Not to mention it’s going to taste pleasant, until you’re ready to forgo the sweets and dive right on in to the heavy hitter greens like chlorella, collards, mustard greens, and many more.
So go ahead and give it a shot, you’ll be glad you did!
1 cup, packed, kale (without stem)
1/4 cucumber (approx 2″-3″ chunk, with skin if washed)
1-2 celery stalks
1/2 – 1 green apple, washed, stem and seeds removed
1/4 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or frozen only!)
1 lime, juiced + zest
4oz brewed, chilled, green tea
4oz Coconut Milk, Unsweetened
Place all items into NutriBullet or blender and process until smooth. Enjoy! (vegan/vegetarian/paleo/gluten-free friendly!) Makes approx 16oz serving size, approx 300-400 calories.
