Ultimate Fiber Cleanse Smoothie
And when I say ultimate, I really mean ULTIMATE! I can assure you, this recipe is sure to give your gut a proper cleansing. Depending on how familiar you are with a fiber cleanse, you’ll want to take some time to read the following:
Newbies/First-Timers: Fiber causes bloating. But this is a good bloating. It’s going through your entire digestive tract, expanding the lining of your small intestine and taking out all the old, leftover, decaying bits of garbage. As Martha Stewart would say, “It’s a good thing!” This being said, split the serving size (16oz) and drink half in the morning, half in the evening.
Not My First Rodeo: I can assure you, this recipe will give your lower bowels a workout. If you’re no stranger to a well-balanced diet packed with fiber, than this smoothie is a pretty good way to maintain your gut health.
1 med sized peach, with skin
1/2 cup blueberries
1 med sized stalk of kale leaf, no stem
1/2 lemon, juice and zest
2oz aloe vera juice
8oz coconut water
(optional) 1/8 tsp cayenne powder
1 tbsp psyllium husk powder
1 tbsp oats, ground
1 tbsp chia seed, ground
1 tbsp flax seed meal, ground
If you have a NutriBullet, use the milling blade to whip up the fiber blend in a jiffy. Combine the following into a blender cup: 1 tbsp psyllium husk, 1 tbsp oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp flax seed. Then process until well-blended into a powder. Simple!
Once you have your fiber blend ready, switch to the Processing Blade and combine the smoothie ingredients with the fiber blend ingredients and process until smooth. Enjoy! (vegan/vegetarian). Makes approx 16oz.
*NOTE* Feel free to play around with the above listed ingredients; use more or less of the fiber blend to suit your needs.
